Washington, DC is adopting the 2015 International Residential Code this year. Updates this cycle include clarifications and changes to many provisions. We’ll review thirty updated parts of code, including DC-only modifications:
- The sections of the code—what is where in the code?
- What has changed since the 2012 edition
- What techniques are working in the field, to meet the stringent air leakage standard
- How states are modifying and interpreting the code
- Range hood make-up air and whole-house ventilation provisions
- New rules for safety glass
- Roof flashings now required

Learning Objectives: After attending this presentation, participants will be able to: Understand the key sections of the International Residential Code; Know key changes from the previous code cycle; Use DC-specific code modifications to meet code on future designs; and discuss three types of whole-home ventilation systems.
