Thousands of businesses and organizations all over the world have been inspired by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs). These 17 global goals aim to end extreme poverty, fight inequality and injustice, and protect the planet. While there are significant public pledges of support for the UN SDG’s, tracking and validating actionable progress and contribution to the goals has been lacking.

As we count down the decade to 2030 - now is the time to deliver on our commitments. This session will outline how organizations designing and constructing projects in the built environment are using the UN SDG’s to guide their sustainability work, and map how the certification platforms from ILFI can validate achievements toward the goals.

Learning Objectives: At the completion of this course, participants will be able to: Understand what the 17 UN SDGs are and their importance in the built environment; Identify the components of certification programs that align with the UN SDGs; Communicate the alignment and utility of using ILFI certification programs to validate progress on the UN SDGs; and identify local case studies of how organizations are using the UN SDGs and ILFI’s programs together.
