Join the AIA|DC Urban Design Committee for our third annual series of open houses at leading architectural and urban design offices in DC. They will be showcasing projects currently in planning, design, or construction phases.

Attendees will gain awareness of the changes that are taking place in the city through design practices. This is an opportunity for the architectural community to see the current and future projects that can potentially transform the District, region, the nation, and the world.

KGP's philosophy is rooted in the basic premise that the best architecture stems from a coherent response to both the collective and individual needs and desires of people. Ultimately, the effect of good design is measured in the quality of life and well-being of the people who use and experience our designs. Nowhere has this philosophy been more thoroughly applied than in our transit projects.

You must be registered to attend.

After attending this course, participants will be able to:

  • Discuss how design projects interact with and contribute to “urban transparency” within cities;
  • Explore how urban design and planning contribute to the vibrancy;
  • Explain and identify strategies for incorporating best practices of urban design into architectural and planning projects; and
  • Explore how various urban design and architectural projects are transforming the District and other cities around the world.
