Tour: Pier 4 at The Wharf

See how an existing 1950's pier at The Wharf development site in Washington, DC has been transformed into 40,000 square feet of LEED Gold office space and riverboat cruise ship operations by PN Hoffman. Marquisha Powell, AIA of StudioMB Architects will lead a tour of the project and highlight how three floors of modern office space now sits atop this unique building site.

This pier has continually served as the home of riverboat excursion cruises. In 1956, the pier hosted the S.S. Mount Vernon and the legendary Elvis Presley, who gave a concert while the ship remained docked due to inclement weather. The pier is now home to Entertainment Cruises, which maintained operations at this site throughout construction.

  • Explain how LEED Gold certification is awarded to new buildings; and
  • Identify high performance materials used for energy efficiency.
