Join AIA|DC and FOX Architects for a tour of 1000 Maine, part of The Wharf’s phase 1 mixed-use development, is the District’s first waterfront office building located in the heart of our nation’s capital.
FOX Architects and the New York based architecture firm KPF were tasked with creating a building that distinguishes itself from the rest of DC and anchors one end of The Wharf development. The 270,000 SF building boasts a unique glass and terracotta façade that will frame panoramic views of national monuments and DC’s world-renown cherry blossoms with unrivaled clarity. A 3-story atrium splits the floorplate at the base of the building, creating a visual connection from Maine Avenue to The Wharf promenade and the Washington Channel. Vibrant ground floor retail, and state-of-the-art building systems will showcase new technologies in this historic setting. 1000 Maine is currently pursuing a LEED Gold certification and is set to deliver January2018.
Note: The tour takes place on an active construction site, PPE is required. Participants must bring their own PPE, including hard hats, vests, glasses, and close-toed/hard-soled shoes.
Presented by: FOX Architects and Hoffman-Madison Waterfront
