Are you interest in architecture? The Washington Architectural Foundation would like to invite students ages 16-18 to apply for the 3rd annual Counselor in Training program. This program takes place during the week of DACkids Summer Camp (7/20-7/24). All Accepted students will take an active role in planning daily ice breaker activities, taking leadership roles during assignments throughout the week, assisting with set-up and break-down, and plan the final presentation at the end of the camp. There is an application fee of $15 to apply to the program. As part of the application process, you will be required to submit a letter of reference as well as a one-page statement on your interest in architecture and why the Counselor in Training program is important to you. All applications must be submitted by Midnight June 19th, Accepted students will be notified by June 26th. There will be an orientation on June 29th that all participants will be required to attend, information on that will be included in the welcome letter. There will be a follow-up meeting on July 14th, all accepted students will be required to attend orientation the follow-up meeting. Please notify WAF staff of any food allergies or medication you may be taking. At the conclusion of the camp, all CIT's will be taken to lunch, where a featured speaker will present about their role with WAF and their career in Architecture.
About the program: This program is a leadership program for students ages 16-18. The goal is to give students an opportunity to gain leadership skills and a better understanding of architecture. each accepted student will go through a short evaluation with the Counselor in Training Coordinator at the beginning of the week and at the end of the week. the evaluation process is meant to help students build confidence and skills to help them go further in the field of architecture.
