Join AIA|DC and the Building Enclosure Council (BEC) for an exploration of the challenges in selecting and evaluating an appropriate cladding attachment strategy for their project and the implications these decisions have on effective thermal performance, installation efficiency, air & moisture penetration risk, and system costs. Attendees will receive guidance on choosing and comparing the thermal efficiency of different clip & rail systems to meet the thermal performance requirements. Common clip & rail systems are reviewed and compared, and our presenter will explain strategies for installing clip & rails to prevent air and moisture penetration in wall systems as well as factors that impact installation performance and its cost implications.
Presenter: William Green
William Green is a Market Team member at Technoform responsible for product management and market development. He graduated from Cleveland State University with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and has over 13 years in automotive components, plumbing products, commercial fasteners and building envelope industries
Learning Objectives:
- Explain the advantages and disadvantages of the common types of clip & rail systems.
- Explain the different strategies for air & moisture prevention when installing clip & rails systems.
- Explain how the loading forces impact the clip structural performance and how to use load tables to estimate the quantity of clips for a project.
- Explain how to evaluate clip & rail solutions for installation performance and cost impact.
