Sixth Annual AIA|DC Thesis Showcase

Please join the AIA|DC Emerging Architects Committee for the sixth annual Thesis Showcase. Recent B.Arch and M.Arch graduates will present their thesis projects to members of the AIA and the public.

The Emerging Architects Committee’s Thesis Showcase program aims to bridge the gap between recent graduates and practicing architects by providing an opportunity for practitioners to view a sample of the work emerging from architecture schools. Each presenter will speak for approximately 10 minutes, after which a moderator will take questions from the audience and help to draw connections between the thesis projects.

Before and after the presentations there will be a networking reception with opportunities for conversation between the presenters and attendees.

Presenters include:

Loay Elmagri, Architecture and Drones - WAAC - Virginia Tech, Master of Architecture, 2018

Macy Carman-Goeke, Taking Root - WAAC - Virginia Tech, Master of Architecture, 2019

Mario Rodríguez, Paz Juntos - WAAC - Virginia Tech, Master of Architecture, 2019

Theresa Mozinski, Escuela sin Fronteras, School without Borders WAAC - Virginia Tech, Master of Architecture, 2018

Moderated by:

Dr. Raj Barr, FAIA , FRIBA - University of The District of Columbia

  • Explore recent trends and topics in Architectural Thesis from across the country; and
  • Discuss these innovative ideas and explorations, and how they may be applied to our daily work.
