#iseeDC2020 Instagram Photo Contest

The #iseeDC2020 Instagram Photo Contest is open for entries! Celebrate architecture and culture in our nation’s capital. Tag your photo with #iseeDC2020 to participate.

Entry Deadline:
All entries must be tagged by 11:59pm on November 30, 2020.

Theme:
Architecture, Equity, and the Pandemic

2020 has been a year of profound changes in the way we view our society, its institutions, and our interactions with the environment. Engage with the city around you and interpret, through a photographic lens, the impact of these changes on buildings, landscapes, and cultural activities. Capture all that inspires you. Organized by the AIA|DC Design Excellence Committee, this contest seeks to inspire interaction between the public and architecture in Washington, DC.

Eligibility:
Entries are open to all.

How to Enter:

  • Focus on a subject relevant to the theme somewhere in Washington, DC
  • Snap a compelling photo!
  • Post to Instagram with #iseeDC2020
  • Limit 5 images per entrant

Judging:
Photos will be evaluated on originality, creativity, and visual spirit.

Photos will be judged by a member of the Instagram community, a professional photographer, and a local architect. Judges will select up to 100 images for digital display. Additionally, judges will select 10 favorites for special recognition. Final numbers to be determined.

Entrants whose photos are selected will be contacted by AIA|DC via Instagram.

Jurors:

Francesca Franchi, AIA, LEED GA  Principal of RDC/Studio One Eleven / @rdc.collab

Francesca is a highly accomplished, award-winning design leader with a long history in guiding architectural teams both nationally and around the world. With over 30 years of experience, she has applied design excellence and leadership to a diverse body of innovative projects crossing a broad spectrum of markets including commercial office, master planning, residential, retail, mixed use, and community. Her professional objective is to accomplish architecture as creative problem solving and her approach to reach the optimum results involves a total integration between the client, the teams, the program and the site.

Adrien Radford  Content Creator / @adrienradford

For the past 8 years, Adrien's experience as a creative has led him to work with big brands such as Adobe, Google, Lexus, Lyft, Cathay Pacific, Renaissance Hotels and many more. His main focus is architecture photography and lifestyle. Although he has never studied architecture, his eye and love for it has shown him many perspectives of it like never before.

Alan Karchmer  Architectural Photographer / @alan_karchmer

Alan Karchmer has been photographing notable buildings in Washington, DC across the U.S., and around the world for the last forty years. A retrospective exhibition, Alan Karchmer: The Architects’ Photographer, will be on view at the reopening of the National Building Museum where his professional archive is a promised gift. His book, Château La Coste: Art and Architecture in Provence, has just been published by Merrell.

Prize:
Selected photos will be featured in an online exhibition in 2021.

By participating in the #iseeDC2020 Instagram Photo Contest, you grant AIA|DC the rights to use your photo for the purpose of exhibition and/or promotion. As the photographer, you agree to hold harmless AIA|DC, its agents, employees, and members from any and all liability claims, and/or expenses of any kind arising from this contest.

In order to enter, your Instagram account must be open to the public for the duration of the contest.
