Effective communication is a critical skill at every stage of one’s career. No matter the type of content, the ability to translate an idea to colleagues and clients is paramount in our day-to-day interactions, no matter how formal or informal they may be. Writing is a fundamental form of design communication, as necessary as drawing and problem-solving skills, yet, these skills are rarely discussed or taught in architecture school, leaving graduates unprepared for real-world business scenarios. This session seeks to equip design professionals with the necessary writing tools to promote their work.
About the Presenter:
Elizabeth Donoff is an award-winning editor, writer, content consultant and strategist trained in architecture. Her editorial and design writing expertise reflects a broad range of work across the design community—from publications to Marketing and Communications services for architectural and lighting design firms. Under her editorial direction as Editor-in-Chief of Architectural Lighting (AL) for 11 years, AL received several prestigious B2B journalism awards including a 2016 Jesse H. Neal Award for her Editor’s Comments column and a 2015 Jesse H. Neal Award for Best Media Brand – Overall Editorial Excellence. She received her Master of Architecture degree from the School of Architecture at Washington University in St. Louis and is currently a Senior Marketing Coordinator at SmithGroup’s Washington, DC office.
