AIAPV has partnered with Precision Property Measurements (PPM) an AIAPV Annual Partner, to offer this live-webinar. AIA credits will be reported by AIA Potomac Valley. Free registration for Students.

Program Description:

This class is a demonstration of how to procure a proper set of As-Built Plans when needed for any structure. It will briefly cover the reasons they are needed, technique in obtaining information onsite, and finally the drafting in CAD or modeling in Revit to suit your design needs.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Participants will learn a few ways to begin a project by determining if As-Builts are needed. We'll discuss the scope of work from an As-Built-only perspective and how that will help achieve different goals to give you a head-start on creating design elements, construction documents, and obtaining permits.

  2. Participants will run through some "traditional" but also fundamental methods to obtain As-Built Plans for all levels of scope.

  3. Participants will observe new methods for gathering data onsite such as Lidar Scanning and 3D Photogrammetry.

  4. Participants will learn to put down our collected data into both AutoCAD & Revit.

Together, Justin Yotter and Colin Maloney will join forces to share their knowledge of the best practices in surveying, drafting, and modeling by way of traditional methods and 3D laser scanning technology.

Justin Yotter, Mid-Atlantic Regional Director – PPM

Justin Yotter is PPM’s Mid-Atlantic Regional Director supporting our East Coast clients in the DC Metro area with As-Built project management and on-site surveying. Prior to joining the PPM team and leading our newest regional office, Justin earned 16 years of experience in the architecture industry in many capacities. Knowing the importance of accurate As-Built plans to every project, he’s passionate about providing a service that will change the remodel process for many architects in the D.C. Area and enjoys imparting his knowledge to make the field measurement process a breeze. In this course, he’ll use his expertise to share best practices for gathering field measurements alongside tenured PPM surveyor and drafter, Colin Maloney.

When Justin isn’t hard at work supporting his clients, you can find him fishing, working on classic cars, and spending time with his family.

Colin Maloney, Bay Area Regional Director – PPM

Colin Maloney is the Regional Director of Precision Property Measurements’ Bay Area office serving Northern California’s AEC community with professional As-Built services. He’ll be assisting Justin in the course by sharing his knowledge in sketching on site, drafting, and modeling. Colin has worked with and utilized an array of As-Built surveying and drafting tools in his 20 years in the trade.

In 2011, Colin joined PPM in Long Beach, California where he would further develop his trade and expertise among a seasoned team of As-Built experts. Together Colin and the PPM team followed emerging As-Built technology and mastered the use of 3D Laser Scanning to streamline their process, ensure accuracy, and grow capacity to serve more architects across the country. Colin opened the Bay Area regional office in the fall of 2014 and supported the launch of our DC-area office in July of 2020.

Colin resides in Alameda, California with his wife Carmen and their son Shane.
