Join us for a construction tour of La Cosecha, a contemporary market for Latin American culture opening this June in DC’s Union Market district. In collaboration with EDENS, this new 20,000-square-foot market is designed by Gensler to celebrate authentic Latin flavors, art, dance, music, and heritage around unique experiences curated by Latin embassies and cultural tastemakers.
La Cosecha is positioned to be a community gathering space comprised of artisans, entrepreneurs, and businesses that bring a collection of retail, restaurants, pop-ups, and cultural programming to the nation’s capital. Gensler and EDENS will discuss the design of the space and how La Cosecha acts as a catalyst for the Union Market neighborhood while creating a national platform to showcase Latin culture and cuisine.
Presented by: Walter Trujillo, Design Director of Gensler and Geoff Sharpe, Vice President, Preconstruction and Development at EDENS
Please note that this tour takes place on an active construction site. Personal Protective Equipment includes hardhats, safety glasses, vests, gloves, pants (no skirts) and closed-toed shoes (boots) will be required for the tour. We highly encourage to bring your own gear as there will be limited quantities available to loan on a first come, first serve basis.
After attending the course, participants will be able to:
- Explore the cultural elements integrated into the design of the space;
- Describe how the space will attract artisans, entrepreneurs, and businesses;
- Discuss how La Cosecha will act as a catalyst for the Union Market neighborhood; and
- Identify how the market is designed to accommodate unique experiences curated by Latin embassies and cultural tastemakers.
