CANstruction is a nationwide program that aims to raise awareness about hunger. It is a creative design-build competition where teams from architecture and design firms use their skills to build sculptures out of cans of food. The nutritious shelf-stable food is donated to the Capital Area Food Bank for distribution to those in need after the event.
This year’s theme is CAN't Stop the Beet!
Join us on Sunday, November 18th in the Great Hall of the National Building Museum to watch the build-out of this years CANstruction.
We especially encourage visitors to stop by the National Building Museum on Friday, November 23 (Black Friday) to view the sculptures and vote for their favorite one by bringing a canned good donation. Please join us in this Black Friday activity as an alternative to the excesses of shopping on the day after Thanksgiving.
