Paul Masi, AIA, of Bates Masi + Architects and CUA alumnus of 1994 will present a retrospective of the firm’s work from 1965 to today. Bates Masi’s focus is on innovative design, based on extensive research and knowledge of fabrication, craft, construction, and materials. The firm is widely published and receives multiple design awards each year.
Paul Masi, AIA received a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Catholic University and a Master of Architecture degree from the Graduate School of Design at Harvard University. He worked at Richard Meier & Partners before joining Bates Masi + Architects in 1998 whose projects include urban and suburban residences, schools, offices, hotels, restaurants, retail and furniture in the United States, Central America and the Caribbean.
At the completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Describe and learn about design and construction processes and how they meet the needs of their owners and contribute to their environs;
- Explore the ways modern buildings are crafted within specific urban contexts;
- Describe and study the dynamic relationship between design development and emerging technologies, particularly fabrication; and
- Examine the role and utility of research in the building industry.
