The AIA|DC Mentorship Program will build on its first cycle to connect emerging professionals with Fellows and provide the mentorship needed to advance the future generation of architects.
Each emerging candidate will be paired with a Fellow starting in March, for formal and informal workshops and one-on-one mentoring sessions. The program will incorporate informal social events if allowed by health and public safety standards, as well as organized mentorship discussions focusing the conversation on past experiences, career development, and the future of the architectural profession.
The program benefits include an opportunity to be mentored by experienced professionals and FAIA members. Participants will develop communication and relationship skills, advance professional skills, expand professional and personal networks, experience team performance, and develop community leadership.
The ideal applicant is an architectural designer with a minimum of 3 years of post-grad work experience, who is licensed or pursuing licensure. AIA membership is not necessary to apply, but all selected participants must be or become AIA members. Potential mentees must commit to attending all sessions.
Sessions will take place virtually via Zoom once a month from March through August. Meeting dates are:
March 18, 4-5pm
May 13, 4-5pm
June 17, 4-5pm
July 15, 4-5pm
August 19, 4-5pm
Mentees and mentors will also meet for at least two non-structured one-on-one meetings. The dates, times, locations, and duration of these meetups are at the discretion of the mentor/mentee.
Please Note: The deadline to apply is February 19 by 5pm.
