T. David Bell, AIA, LEEDap BD+C, founded the BELL Architects in 1999 to fill an increasing need for professional A|E services concentrating on sustainable design, historic preservation and community development. BELL Architects, PC is now an award-winning architectural design firm located in the Shaw Historic District of Washington, DC, specializing in energy analysis and design, sustainable design, rehabilitation, adaptive reuse and historic preservation. 

The firm has overseen the completion of a variety of energy retrofit and adaptive reuse projects, including recreation centers, schools, libraries, performing arts centers, mixed-use projects, institutional facilities and has extensive experience in projects involving occupied buildings. The firm specializes in integrating new systems and improving energy efficiency within older buildings, concurrently achieving regulatory approvals without compromising the character of historically significant spaces. The firm has two senior architects that meet the National Park Service Professional Qualification Standards for Historic Architecture. Recent projects have included Preservation Planning, Historic Resource Assessment, Section 106 Consultation, Master Planning, Building Conditions Assessments and Design. BELL Architects has been a project architect for numerous National Historic Landmark sites and historic districts requiring National Park Service approval.
