Join AIA|DC and the Timmons Group for an exploration of the collaborative opportunities inherent in the design process that enable building architecture and site design to positively influence each other. Presenters will discuss critical site constraints, site element programming, and connectivity, both physically and aesthetically, using site elements to expand a sense of place beyond the confines of the structure.
After attending this course, participants will be able to:
- Discuss the core principles of site design that add value to the architectural design process;
- Examine existing site conditions and constraints, both physical and regulatory;
- Identify how to effectively program site elements, including parking, service areas, stormwater management and outdoor spaces; and
- Identify tactical ways to collaboratively work with your site designer to develop architecture that expands beyond the confines of a building.
