Outside In: Biophilic Design for Healthy Kids

Biophilia: bio-, meaning life + -philia, meaning love = love of living things

Do you wish you could spend more time outside? Research shows that people are physically and emotionally healthier when we are surrounded by the natural environment. By bringing the outside in we can help our bodies and minds feel and work better in the buildings where we live, learn and play.

In this program, we will explore the science and design strategies that contribute to biophilic spaces and improve human health. Students will learn how to bring the outside in through use of living plant material, images, artwork, materials, textures, light, colors and patterns. Students will have the chance to design their own biophilic bedroom.
